Our Story
Hattie founded Wild Dawn at the start of 2025 and ran the first session in Caer woodland on the Skirrid in May. Despite the ancient beauty and tranquility of the site, the challenges of transporting the equipment became untenable, so in the Autumn, we moved things to a more accessible site in St Marys Vale woodland, on the foothills of the Sugarloaf. Having the sessions in a wild woodland/forest site has always been important for us - to embrace the changes in our seasons, plant & animal species, and to offer an exposure to the elements.
We became a Community Interest Company in December 2025 and ran sessions on (almost) a weekly basis through the Winter months at St Mary’s Vale. However we appreciate that for many families, even this site was challenging in terms of terrain & extreme weather. Therefore, we listened to families, and have now moved sessions to Linda Vista Gardens in Abergavenny. This move has enabled us to reach a wider community and work in partnership with Ambika Social Café (first 5 bookings of any session receives a free coffee!).
Our aim over the coming year is to continue working in partnership with local people & secure funding to run more sessions. Through her work, Hattie can see how time spent outdoors is a lifeline for some, and strives to offer accessible nature connection for all. She currently facilitates sessions for both children & adults, working with charities (inc Age Connects & the Canal River Trust- local schools in Torfaen), Three Pools permaculture farm on Friday evenings (Dinner & Painting), nurseries, babysitting/mentoring and runs regular Sunday sessions in Abergavenny.
